Brent Clyde. MD is a board-certified neurosurgeon with University of Utah Health, seeing patients full-time in Tooele, Utah at the Mountain West Medical Group Specialty Clinic.
He began his interest in medicine while working in x-ray during high school. His mother was an x-ray technician. Dr. Clyde chose neurosurgery because it is a highly delicate and intricate specialty, which makes it challenging. He also enjoys the close-knit collaboration with other surgeons.
The most common conditions Dr. Clyde sees in his practice would be lumbar and cervical disc disease, spondylolisthesis of lumbar spine, spinal fractures, and subdural hematomas. However, he sees many other neurological conditions where surgery may be warranted. He finds it very satisfying to alleviate pain with spinal conditions, as well as be there to guide and comfort patients and families through some very difficult situations.
Dr. Clyde's overriding philosophy is to first educate his patients. He is here primarily to share his education and experience with them and surgery is always secondary to this. He wants his patients to be informed so they can make the best decisions for their own care.
Dr. Clyde practiced in Bountiful, Utah for 20 years and more recently has practiced in the state of Wyoming. He was raised in California but has many connections to Utah. His father was a Utah native and he currently has one son living in Stansbury Park. He is excited to practice with the University affiliation and provide easier access to neurosurgical care closer to home for the residents in the Tooele Valley.
